Cath Kidston is a British fashion designer, business woman and entrepreneur and most famously recognised for her use of nostalgic floral patterns. Her company Cath Kidston Limited largely sells home furnishings and fashion ware through their high-street stores and online, both in the UK and abroad.
Over the past 20 years Cath Kidston Limited has gone from strength to strength and are now a globally recognised brand, in the process of opening up another major store in Shanghai, Indonesia and Singapore.
With more stores constantly opening and recent sales breaking through the £100 million mark Cath Kidston has contracted Interco Projects to assist in construction and refurbishment of its stores and head offices
We were contracted by Cath Kidston who wanted a company to completely renovate their kitchen, dining area and offices at their head office near Notting Hill. The idea was to further promote the Cath Kidston brand identity by having a rustic finish reminiscent of its vintage inspired past.
In the kitchen we built a long brick serving area incorporating the cash register and hot drinks area. An Commercial stainless steel kitchen was installed with a large extractor canopy and exposed ductwork designed to follow the curved roof of the building. In the dining area partitions were installed to help divide the kitchen and dining areas. Instead of installing a suspended ceiling we kept the original arch roof and mounted suspended lighting tracks which created a feeling of space and openness. Heritage Oak flooring was used to retain the style of the retail shops. The area was decorated in the eclectic style of Cath Kidston. An exciting yet relaxed atmosphere was created with a mix and match of pastel coloured chairs tables and clustered patterned lamp shades. Vintage crackle glaze tiling completed the look.
The offices and Meeting rooms were constructed using a mix of Komfort Komfire 100, 600 Series and Fully glazed Polar Partition systems to comply with today’s demanding fire regulations and Acoustic Control requirements. The offices and meeting rooms were decorated internally with a range of Cath Kinston’s own wallpapers and further complimented with pastel lamp shades.
The team from Interco managed the project from inception to completion, this included planning consent and building control compliance with the Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea, CDM and Health & Safety with the HSE. There was continual management and co-ordination of specialist subcontractors to complete the electrical upgrade, Mechanical ventilation & extraction, Air Conditioning, Data Cabling and the installation specialist kitchen equipment.
